Thinking about choosing Philburn Logistics Inc. for your freight and transportation needs? Learn more about what we can offer you by checking out these frequently asked questions:
1. When should I use a freight carrier for shipping?
If the item you’re looking to ship weighs more than 150 lbs., a common carrier is usually a better option than a small package service. A freight carrier can transport your shipment with many others so that the cost of transportation is shared—this means that instead of paying full price for freight to Atlantic Canada from Toronto, you’ll only have to pay a portion since the cost will be split between other customers as well.
2. What type of freight services do you offer?
We offer less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping, truckload (TL) shipping, freight, and shipping to the Maritimes from Toronto and vice versa. With terminals in both of these locations, we can handle all deliveries safely, and efficiently.
3. Do you transport/freight to the Maritimes from Mississauga and Toronto?
Yes, we can transport your freight to/from anywhere in Ontario from/to Atlantic Canada.
4. What type of products/goods do you transport?
We’re able to transport a variety of products including food or other items with unique storage and travelling specifications.
5. Which shipping carrier is best to use?
We recommend choosing whichever carrier you’re most comfortable with—most of them have comparable features and services.
6. Do I need a full truckload?
Whether you need a full truckload (FTL) depends on the weight and dimensions of what you’re looking to ship. Typically, anything that weighs over 20,000 lbs. or takes up more than 20 linear feet of a trailer will need to be shipped as a FTL.
7. How can I track my freight?
Philburn uses state-of-the-art technology to keep customers updated on the whereabouts of their delivery. This also helps keep us organized internally, so you’ll never have to worry about a lost shipment.
8. What if my package gets lost?
There’s always a slim chance of the carrier losing your package, which is why we recommend that you always purchase insurance. The price of your insurance will depend on your specific shipment, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
9. Can I get overnight delivery?
While our deliveries are always fulfilled within a short, guaranteed timeframe, we can’t always guarantee overnight delivery. Please contact us for more information regarding your shipment.
10. What are the usual methods of freight payment?
Most freight payments are done with a company cheque, though you may also choose to pay with a wire transfer or credit cards. Please be advised credit card payments may be subject to an administrative fee.
11. How will my shipment be transported with a LTL freight carrier?
Your LTL shipment will be shipped on a freight truck along with other customers’ products. When you agree to an LTL shipment, please be advised that the truck will be shared with other shipments as well; however, this doesn’t mean that you’ll have to worry about wrong deliveries.
12. How will my shipment be transported with a FTL Freight Carrier?
Shipping a FTL follows the same protocol as LTL shipments except for the fact that you will have an entire trailer reserved for your products along.
